Ethos’ 2018 Holiday Pet Gift Guide

December 16, 2017

Written by Rachael Gillis

I don’t know about you guys, but my favorite ones to shop for on my Christmas list are my pets. My fur kids are what make my life merry and bright all year round, and they deserve to be spoiled rotten come the holidays – and they certainly are! I love shopping for pet toys, treats, and supplies and there’s always something new every year. Watching their curiosity turn into excitement when they get their presents on Christmas morning is simply priceless! Some of these are classics, while others are brand spanking new; here are my top 10 pet gifts for 2018:

#1: FriendshipCollar

Because best friends should match! There’s so many cute designs and patterns, you can find the perfect fit for you and your dog or cat. I’ll take four please.

Where you can find one:

friendshipcollar.com

#2: DNA Test Kit

Find out about your pet’s breed information, drug resistance, health/wellness needs and risks, and even find their relatives! There’s many different kits out there (Royal Canin, Embark, Wisdom Panel, etc.) and they even make ones for cats too!

Where you can find them:

Amazon, Chewy, or direct from companies

#3: KONG Wobbler treat dispenser toy

This was recommended to my sister’s new puppy by their trainer, and she swears by it! It’s large, chew-proof, and an excellent puzzle toy that’s just a bit more difficult than the traditional KONG. It will keep your pup busy for hours!

Where you can find it:

chewy.com

#4: Window cat perch

Sleeping and watching: every cat’s two favorite pastimes! If your window doesn’t have the best ledge for them to sit on, try a cat perch like this one so they can bask in the sun, watch the birds, and be their lazy selves!

Where you can find it:

amazon.com

#5: C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews

My dog has a sensitive stomach, especially when it comes to rawhide (my kitchen floor found out the hard way). These chews are easy on her stomach and great for her teeth (and breath!) so it’s a win-win!

Where you can find them:

Amazon, chewy.com, 1-800-PetMeds, or your vet

#6: KONG bed

If your dog is a chewer and has de-fluffed and/or ripped apart a few beds, this one will be the fix. KONG dog beds are chew-resistant and very durable. Another one my sister swears by for her rambunctious Husky puppy.

Where you can find one:

Petsmart.com

#7: SmartPetLove Snuggle Puppy Behavioral Aid toy

Reviewers are raving about this for new puppies or dogs with anxiety, fear of loud noises, going through crate training, etc. This little toy simulates warmth and “real-feel” heartbeat that with help your pup feel more calm and peaceful. It’s used with cats too!

Where you can find it:

smartpetlove.com

#8: A new blanket

My cat doesn’t stay interested in toys too long, but he always loves a good blanket. This is an easy find and your dog or cat will appreciate a nice, soft new blanket in his/her bed or on the top cushion of your couch. My cat loves to knead and sleep on sherpa blankets like this one.

Where to find one:

most stores, pet stores, or online

#9: Chuckit! Flying Squirrel

From the masterminds who brought you the Chuckit! ball launcher, comes the flying squirrel! The spinning aerodynamic design catches your dog’s attention and it’s waterproof and glow-in-the-dark! Great for a game of fetch in the yard, at the lake, or even at night.

Where you can find it:

Amazon or chewy.com

#10: Supplements

There’s supplements for many pet ailments that don’t necessarily need medication: joint stiffness, anal gland issues, skin dryness, GI upset, and many more! Always consult your veterinarian before adding a new supplement to your pet’s routine.

Where you can find it:

pet stores, veterinary offices, or online pet pharmacies

And there you have it! Of course, be sure to consult your veterinarian before giving your pet any new treats, supplements, or toys that you’re unsure of. And lastly, have fun! There’s plenty of cool, wacky, and adorable pet products out there to choose from. What will your pet find under the tree this year?
